Damnation of eternity

Part I: Patient Zero
An extraterrestrial intelligence finds one day our blue planet. Though human beings do not exist anymore, they have disappeared a long time ago, extinguished already for millennia, without leaving a single trace.
What had happened?
Seeking for any remnants of the long-gone human civilization, the only legacy the extraterrestrial beings find is an ancient book, a kind of diary, the diary of the last man on Earth. David Markon, a dyed-in-the-wool researcher, becomes a group leader position at the most modern research facility in Europe, where artificial minichromosomes are being developed as a new tool for gene therapy. He spontaneously decides to keep a diary without being aware that, at the very end, it will turn out to be the only legacy of the entire mankind. During this time, an unusual disease spreads unnoticed around the world, leading to the death of all affected persons without any exception. What is this bringer of death? A killer virus?

Part II: State of Emergency
The world is changing.
A deadly virus has come into being, appropriating the properties of the gene therapy vectors as well as the virulence of the flu pathogen, infecting everyone without exception and spreading rapidly around the world. People are dying like flies, but no one knows why, allowing the virus to spread further and further, entirely unhindered. At the same time, David sets off on a trip around the world to forget his worries and gain some distance from the one he fell in love with. It does not escape his notice that something strange is going on in the world. Unexpected circumstances force David to return to the research facility. The dying of the people continues until ... a state of emergency is declared in Europe and in the whole world.

Part III: Last Day
A state of emergency has been declared.
David and Sofia are locked in the building of the research facility, monitored by soldiers. David does his best to protect Sofia and even tries to bring her beloved friend Elias, who is confined in another building, to her. But Elias had already been infected and Sofia blames David for his contagion. Before Elias dies, she drops all her caution and ends up getting infected, too. David desperately tries to save her and fight desperately against the insidious disease. Will he succeed? Happiness and sorrow, joy and despair accompany him hand in hand.
